Cathy Corbett, Realtor
Principal Broker/Owner
Cathy moved to Rough River Lake in 2003, with her husband Charlie, who is from the area and had always planned to move back when the time was right.
Since relocating to Rough River, together they have opened 6 new companies and completed several new developments on or near Rough River Lake. Some of them include:
– Patriots Pointe (home of the BIG flag overlooking the lake)
– Patriots Landing (only gated subdivision on the lake)
– Patriot Shores (newest waterfront development on the lake)
Cathy started her working career in the nuclear power industry in 1975. She worked in that industry for over 20 years for the largest nuclear utility Commonwealth Edison (Chicago) and 2nd largest, Duke Energy (Carolinas), all while raising 4 children. Starting as a construction clerk and leaving the industry as a Licensing Administrator and Safety/Risk Manager.
As she was putting most of her kids through college, she completed an advanced degree in human performance, organizational behavior and leadership development. She worked for an international consulting firm for 10 years that took her to many countries, taking the lessons learned from the nuclear power industry into other venues that benefited greatly from the strong risk prevention and safety record of the nuclear power industry. As a senior partner in the firm, her work included major projects in other high-risk industries. This included the medical industry where she and her partners published their first book on reducing human error. Fascinating work for sure, but long weeks of travel away from friends and family led her to look for something in retirement that would keep her closer to home. That led to her decision to pursue two hobbies that she had always loved…. horses and real estate! No better place than Kentucky for that!
She received her real estate license in 2005 and joined Coldwell Banker Realty Group – as a branch manager at Rough River Lake. She obtained her broker’s license in 2012 and is now the Principal Broker and owner of 3 dynamic real estate companies.
– Greater Rough River Realty Group
– Greater Nolin Lake Realty Group, and
– Welcome Home Realty Group (serving 5 counties around the two lakes!)
Cathy also served as a Delegate and Director-at-Large on the Kentucky Realtors Board of Directors 2018 – 2023.
She also serves as an RPAC Trustee (Political Action Committee trustee) on both the State Board and the Louisville Board. She chaired the creation of the first State-wide Safety Committee for Kentucky Realtors in 2021. And is taking on the Chairmanship of the Professional Standards Committee for Kentucky Realtors in 2023.
